Richard Neer – Novelist Café

PodJockey is proud to present “Richard Neer’s Novelist Café” — a section that features exclusive interviews with novelists and discussions about novels.

Richard Neer attended Adelphi University, getting his start in radio at the campus station. With Michael Harrison, he helped create the legendary WLIR-FM as a rock station. They both graduated to the seminal progressive  station in the nation, WNEW-FM, where Neer worked for almost 30 years. He did the morning show for three separate stints and was program director for five years. He joined his current radio address, WFAN, New York in 1988.

He is an associate editor for TALKERS magazine, the bible of the talk radio industry. He wrote FM: The Rise and Fall of Rock Radio, (Villard 2001) with a forward by Steve Van Zandt, which is considered the definitive history of the progressive phenomenon.

His first novel, Something of the Nightwas published as an eBook in August 2014 — a thriller set on the Jersey shore involving a private investigator tasked with finding a missing author, whose manuscript threatens to destroy a prominent Catholic school that boasts a championship basketball program.

One of his proudest achievements is hosting Richard Neer’s Novelist Café on, where he shares ideas with some of the top novelists in the world today, mostly in the suspense/thriller genre. These conversations go far beyond the normal superficial interviews that are found elsewhere. We hope you will enjoy these frank and probing discussions.
